The Holy Trinity Knights secured the title of Alberta's top boys’ high school basketball team with a gold medal win at the ASAA 3A basketball tournament in Strathmore on March 16.
This victory holds special significance for the Knights as it marks a redemption from an earlier defeat against Strathmore High’s team, the only 3A team to have bested them this season. It also builds upon their silver medal finish at last year’s provincial finals, where they faced a substantial loss.
Last year's finals saw the Knights on the receiving end of a tough defeat, with a wide score gap of 103-41. However, this year, they managed to turn the tables with a narrow win of 85-84, showcasing their growth and improvement.
Although the final game was challenging, with the Knights trailing for most of it and facing a significant point difference, they rallied together to tie the game and eventually secure victory in overtime.
This win not only demonstrates the Knights' athletic skills but also reflects their teamwork, resilience, and determination in overcoming obstacles. It's a moment of celebration for the team, highlighting their hard work and dedication throughout the season.
